HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) — Police arrest two people after a hit-and-run crash in Evansville.

Officers were sent to the area of Heidelbach Avenue and Parkland Avenue on Sunday just before 4:30.

Police said a motorcycle rider was on the ground with road rash and a fractured ankle.

According to a police report, the victim was not sure if he had lost consciousness and could not give a description of the vehicle that hit him. The victim was taken to a hospital.

A witness told police that a dark SUV hit the victim and drove off.

Police said they later found the SUV on North Main Street. Officers said they talked to Britny Myers who said her brother was driving. Police said Myers then said she was the one driving, but then said her husband Clarence Johnston was driving.

According to an affidavit, Myers said Johnston was driving during the crash, then pulled away and stopped. She said Johnston ran away from the vehicle, and she then drove the vehicle to where police found it.

When being interviewed, police said Johnston denied being there during the crash. Police said they talked to Myers’ children who were there during the crash, and both said Johnston was the one driving.

Johnston and Myers were both arrested.
