HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – An Evansville man accused in a 2018 murder who was previously declared not competent to stand trial for a fifth time, is once again questioning his own competency.

Documents indicate that Robert Ballard Jr. filed a Motion for Competency Evaluation hearing and that he was scheduled to go to trial on Monday.

The court granted the renewed motion and vacated, or cancelled, the upcoming trial date. The court is expected to make a ruling sometime in June.

Ballard Jr. is charged in the shooting death of Amanda Weir, after police say he targeted Weir and another woman in a car on Delaware Street in May of 2018. Ballard has previously been deemed incompetent to stand trial multiple times.
