Windber football routed by Mount Union ahead of District 5 postseason

WINDBER — Senior running back Nasir Collins rushed for 293 yards and six touchdowns, leading unbeaten Mount Union past Windber 42-14, Friday, Oct. 30, wrapping up the regular season. "This is a great accomplishment for these kids," said Mount Union head coach Jamie Brumbaugh. "We had to cut our season short last year and did not play in the playoffs, so it is great to end the regular season like this. I am proud of them for how they prepared and played, but they are already focused on next week's game." The high school football regular season wrapped up across Pennsylvania, Friday, Oct. 30. It was not a good ending for four Somerset County squads . Only a pair of Somerset County programs earned triumphs ahead of the District 5 playoffs. Conemaugh Township clobbers Conemaugh Valley, earns No. 1 seed Colton Shippey rushed for a pair of touchdowns and had a 15-yard pick-six in Conemaugh Township's 42-6 drubbing of Conemaugh Valley. "It's always good to finish the regular season with a win and be able to host a playoff game next week," said Conemaugh Township coach Brandon Studer. Beaver Area football's Jaivin Peel ruled ineligible for PIAA postseason

After months of hearings and appeals, one of the Beaver Valley’s top quarterbacks finally had his playoff fate decided by the PIAA on Thursday, Oct. 29, with the association ruling Beaver Area senior quarterback Jaivin Peel ineligible for the 2026 postseason, Beaver Area athletic director Kevin Krzeczowski told the Times. Peel has had an impressive return to WPIAL competition. In nine games with the Bobcats, leads the Beaver Valley in completions (121) while ranking second in completion percentage (59.6), yards (1,533) and touchdowns (13). Along with his work through the air, Peel has solidified himself as a dual-threat quarterback, rushing for 611 yards and eight scores.
