The Shelby Safari is back in business. Located at 325 Main Street in Shelby and, it is a fantastic option for playing and parties. The Shelby Safari focuses on playtime for kids ages 10-years-old and under and provides a safe, warm and fun time for younger children, especially during the colder months. A ribbon cutting celebrating the opening of the Shelby Safari took place on December 1.

Sharon Darlene Chambers Habets passed away on the afternoon of Nov. 29, 2023. Funeral services will be held at the Living Faith Baptist Church in Shelby at 10 a.m. on Dec. 9, 2023. She will be buried with her husband and other family at the Crown Hill Cemetery in Cut Bank. The Coyote Classic Basketball Tournament is back for its eighth year. This annual event features competition from all around the state with a fun preview of what the season has in store. Teams from Cut Bank, Browning, Belt, Malta, Eureka, 3-Forks, Mission, Fairfield and Chinook will compete in Shelby for three days, starting December 7 through the 9th.

(Great Falls) — A Cut Bank man accused of assaulting and then shooting and wounding a woman at a residence on the Blackfeet Indian Reservation admitted to charges. Luke Charles Wells pleaded guilty to assault with a dangerous weapon and to using a firearm during a crime of violence. Wells faces a maximum of 10 years in prison, a $250,000 fine and three years of supervised release on the assault charge and a mandatory minimum of five years to life in prison, consecutive to any other sentence, a $250,000 fine and five years of supervised release on the firearm charge.

The Shelby boys and girls wrestling team traveled to Cascade for the annual Cascade Badger Invitational for the two-day season opener. There were 22 boys’ teams and 17 girls’ teams in attendance. The Shelby boys placed 13th, and the Shelby girls placed 11th, as teams. Individually, Ryland led both squads by placing second and Ellie Munson and Amelia Clarke placed third and fifth, respectively.

Our Marias Museum's Annual Gingerbread House contest is coming up tomorrow (Tues) night, in the Munson Building, from 4 to 7. Along with the contest, the museum will host a grand afternoon/evening with soup, cookies & entertainment galore with Strings N' Things. 4-H leaders and mentors will be shinning under our 4-H Spotlight for December. We’ll talk with Brynlee Deming from Fairview, Nicole Berger of Belgrade, and Breauna Erickson from Conrad about their community service projects as well as art, goat herding, shooting sports, youth leadership, and public service. St. Paul's Lutheran, over in Cut Bank, is putting on their Annual Lutefisk Dinner tomorrow (Sun) from 11:30, to 2. Adults are $20, kids 6 to 12, $8, & if you're under 5, you can eat lutefisk to your heart's delight for FREE! There's even more lutefisk lurking down in Dutton, tomorrow afternoon (Sun) as Bethany Lutheran has their Lutefisk & Norwegian Meatball Dinner from noon to 3:30. It's not only looking a lot like Christmas, but it's starting to smell a lot like Christmas, in our Golden Triangle.

The Upper Midwest has recently come under scrutiny in a controversial analysis by Travel Alot, which claims to have identified the cities with the rudest populations in the region. At the heart of the discussion is Minot, North Dakota, which has been labeled the state's capital of discourtesy due to behaviors like distant neighbors and a general lack of common civility. Minneapolis, Minnesota; Cut Bank, Montana; and Rapid City, South Dakota also face criticism for their own perceived rudeness, ranging from a general coldness to aggressive driving. However, the authenticity of the data driving these claims has been questioned, suggesting that these findings may be more opinion-based than factually grounded.

Shellby 4-H, is going great guns* this season with their Christmas Tree Fundraiser, & their trees will be available this Sunday afternoon during the Shelby Christmas Stroll. The "stroll" will roll from 1 to 6, Sunday afternoon, & the price range on the trees, depending on the height & fullness, will range from $40 to & 70. There'll be spaghetti dinner fundraiser for 5 year old Gio Mokate, this Saturday night down at the Conrad Moose Lodge. The dinner for Gio, starts at 6:30, with karaoke to follow. Proceeds raised this Saturday, will benefit Gio, with his upcoming heart surgery scheduled in Seattle. There'll be a free will offering. We're all pulling for you, Gio...

Hayrides, Santa visits, music, cookie decorating and a chili cook off contest can mean only one thing, ‘tis the season for Christmas strolling in Shelby. The annual Christmas Stroll will take place on December 3, with stores opening and other fun activities getting underway at 11 a.m. Local merchants...

The Tree of Lights Celebration of Life, will be held on Monday evening, December 11th, at Logan Health-Shelby Assisted Living (Heritage Center.) There'll be a reverent reading of names & the placing of ornaments on the beautiful Christmas tree. Entertainment will include Strings N' Things & Poems too. Don't worry about a thing...there'll be some nice refreshments during the evening.
