    Siouxland school districts given grants for summer meal sites

    DES MOINES, Iowa (KCAU) — On Thursday, a few northwest Iowa school districts received grants from the state’s Department of Education to expand summer meal sites for children.

    Estherville Lincoln Central CSD will now launch two meal sites: Thoreson Park and the Estherville Old Pool, also known as the City Pool Bathhouse. Meanwhile, River Valley CSD will have a summer meal site over in Washta at River Valley Elementary school.

    MRHD gives $600,000 to local organizations

    Additionally, South O’Brien CSD will launch their meal site at South O’Brien Elementary School in Primghar, and Spencer CSD will have its site at Spencer High School.

    Overall, the Iowa Department of Education awarded nearly $900,000. The money will support a total of 61 summer meal sites in areas not previously served through two existing summer child nutrition programs.
