Community Engagement Meeting (Postponed — new date TBA)

The Baltimore County Police Department will join forces with the Baltimore County Department of Aging to facilitate a community meeting regarding the proposed renovation and expansion of the Essex Police Precinct. This event was originally scheduled for March 26 at 6:30 p.m. at Essex Senior Center, located at 600 Dorsey Ave. in Essex. BCPD officials are working to announce a new date. BCPD officers will be available to discuss construction on the building and potential impacts to the community along with n update on the project. Community members are encouraged to attend, ask questions and offer input.

BRRC Red House Run Cleanup

Join the Back River Restoration Committee for a community cleanup along Red House Run, just behind the newly opened elementary school in Rosedale. This cleanup is scheduled for March 30 from 9 a.m. to noon. Upon arrival, look for the BRRC trailer in the school parking lot to sign in. BRRC will provide pickers, gloves, and bags for participants. Your clothes and shoes may get dirty, so please dress appropriately. Student and community service hours are available.

BCPS Community Conversation

On April 3 from 6 to 7 p.m., Baltimore County Public Schools students, parents, caregivers, and stakeholders are invited to participate in a variety of discussions on important school system-related topics at an upcoming Community Conversation at Eastern Technical High School, located at 1100 Mace Ave. in Essex. During this event, Superintendent Myriam Rogers will share information about key BCPS priorities, hear from Team BCPS community members, and answer questions. Spanish interpretation will be provided at all sessions. Interpreting services for other languages are also available upon request at no cost to participants. Please contact 443-809-1250 as early as possible to request. This session will also be livestreamed on the BCPS-TV YouTube channel.

Chesaco UMC Fundraiser

Chesaco United Methodist Church invites area residents to patronize its upcoming spaghetti dinner fundraiser, scheduled for April 6 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Meals are $12 for adults, $6 for children aged 6 to 12 and free for children younger than 6. The dinner also includes a bake table and carry out is available for the adult portion only. Chesaco UMC is located at 901 Chesaco Ave. in Rosedale. Outdoor Flea Market

Zion Evangelical Lutheran United Church of Christ is inviting its membership and the public to upcoming monthly flea market from 8 a.m to noon on Saturday, April 13. Future second Saturday sales are planned for May 11, June 8, July 13 and Aug. 10 (weather permitting). The rain date for the next event is April 20. Navigators Chapter 43 Meeting

Navigators USA Chapter 43 will hold a hike and organizational meeting at Marshy Point Nature Center, on Sunday, April 14, 2024. The event will begin at 10:00 am. For additional information, please email navigators43@gmail.com or call Gary at 443-255-9253.

Navigators USA is a youth development program for ages 5-17. The program uses fun outdoors activities such as hiking and camping to build character and leadership skills. This organization is all-inclusive.

BRRC Earth Day cleanups

For the Stemmers Run Earth Day cleanup on April 19, meet in the Aldi Parking lot (8670 Pulaski Highway Rosedale) to sign in and receive your supplies. Dress appropriately; waterproof shoes preferred but not required. Student and community service hours available. This activity will begin at 9 a.m.

The Earth Day community cleanup on April 20 will run from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., and will be held at two locations: Tiki Lee’s in Sparrows Point (4309 Morse Lane) and Dock of the Bay in Sparrows Point (9025 Cuckold Point Road). Volunteers will choose one of the two meeting locations and sign in, pick up supplies and be directed to their designated cleanup area. BRRC will provide all cleaning materials. A cookout at Robbie’s Bar and Grill, located at 2630 Sparrows Point Road in Sparrows Point, will follow the cleanups. BCPS Film Expo

Baltimore County Public Schools’ annual Film Expo will be held on May 16 from 7-9 p.m. at Senator Theatre at 5904 York Road in Baltimore. All middle school and high school students are welcome to enter. More information can be found on the BCPS Film Expo Schoology Group (Access Code: 7CC62-C8M8K) or the Film Expo website (https://filmexpo.bcps.org/) for more details. Films selected as finalists will be shown during the expo. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. The public is invited to this free annual Film Expo event. At the conclusion of the event, both the finalist filmmakers and the winning poster designers will be honored.

Family Fest at 43

Great Saturday fun awaits. The Back River Restoration Committee will join the Chesapeake Gateway Chamber of Commerce to host the

“Family Fest @ 43,” an event featuring fresh family fun and entertainment. Enjoy a celebration of more than 50 exhibitors, a kids zone including Ms. Dee the Clown, Live Butterfly Exhibit, Martial Arts & Dance Shows. A beer and wine garden will be included along with plenty of convenient free parking. This free, family-friendly event will be held on May 18 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Event will be held rain or shine.
