Duluth, Minn. - Judy Behning has been named the Don Fennessy Volunteer of the Year for 2024 by the Grandma’s Marathon organization. She has worked with the event for 35 years, starting with crowd control at Lemon Drop Hill. She eventually moved to the beer tents in Canal Park. Behning says one of her favorite memories after decades of service is when her children joined her to pass out water to the elite runners. She will receive her official award at the Grandma’s Marathon Volunteer Appreciation Party in June.
