Showers return heading into Friday and the weekend
MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - Friday brings more of the standard Summertime weather, with heat and showers on deck for Friday afternoon. Highs today top out in the mid and lower 90s with isolated and scattered shower and storm chances heading into the afternoon. Powered by the heat of the afternoon, these showers blow up in the early afternoon, fading out as we head into the evening. Heat will also be another prominent factor today, with highs in the mid and lower 90s again feeling like the upper 90s and lower triple digits as humidity makes a big comeback heading into the weekend.

Slowly starting to warm up as we go over the next few days
MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - Our Tuesday morning started out with mostly clear skies and with temperatures mostly in the upper 60s. As we go throughout the day, we’ll mainly see a mixture of sunshine and passing clouds, but we do have a very small chance for a stray shower this afternoon and this evening. Temperatures this afternoon will rise back into the low 90s, and heat index values will climb into the mid to upper 90s, however it still won’t be as hot as it was this same time last week. Tonight we’ll see a few passing clouds and temperatures will fall into the upper 60s to the low 70s.

Not as hot or as humid for Monday
MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - Happy Monday! Our Monday morning has started out with a few passing clouds and with temperatures in-between the upper 60s to low 70s. We also have some areas of patchy fog that have developed across portions of central and eastern Mississippi and western Alabama, and our visibility is limited in some spots. Travel with caution and allow for a little bit of extra drive time so that you can make it to your destination safely.

Temps and humidity stay below the average for a few days
MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - The last week of July brought us some of the hottest temps we’ve seen all Summer. Now behind a cold front that came through over Saturday night and Sunday morning, we’re set for a few cooler days for the first full week of August.

A sizzling Saturday, but Sunday brings relief
MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - We’ve had a very hot week... the hottest of the year (thus far) in terms of heat index values. Saturday will be another sizzler with highs back in the low-mid 90s, and heat index values back over 100 degrees (potentially hovering around 105). Yet, a cold front will cross Saturday night... and it’ll bring some changes.

Heat Relief Delayed, Advisory Posted for Today
HEAT ADVISORY for Friday shown in orange on map above. After a day off from the worst of the heat stress, the entire local area will be back under a heat advisory today. The heat index is forecast to climb as high as 106 in Kosciusko, Carthage and Durant and 105 in Philadelphia even though actual temperatures may not exceed the lower 90s. Also, we’ll see a good chance of rain and thunderstorms that could help to take the edge off the heat stress.

Intense heat continues for Tuesday
MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - The Heat Dome to our west continues to have a big influence on our local weather. It’s keeping temps above the average, so expect highs in the upper 90s Tuesday afternoon. This is dangerously hot in and of itself, but it remains very humid with dew points well into the 70s. So, the high heat and very humid conditions won’t be a good mix.
