PREP TENNIS: Lemon Bay, Venice tennis squads dominate districts

ENGLEWOOD – Lemon Bay’s boys and girls took care of business on Tuesday, winning their respective sides of the District 2A-11 tournament.

Both teams swept the competition, posting a perfect 21 points, and for the girls, it marked a fourth consecutive district title.

Lemon Bay’s No. 1 singles players, Parker Zautcke and Steven Ethier earned automatic bids to the Class 2A state singles tournament. Meanwhile, both will also play in the state doubles tournament with their partners, Avery Shirley and Hunter Andres.

Both teams will now play host to Estero in the Region 2A-6 semifinals at 3 p.m. on Tuesday at the Roach/Maier Tennis Complex.

The state finals will be in Orlando on April 29-30.

District 4A-8: At Venice, both Indians squads swept the competition for their respective district titles.

It was the second season in a row that both teams won district titles.

The boys won all seven finals matches, sweeping the competition to earn all 21 possible points as a team.

The girls team kept its unscathed record alive, winning five of the seven finals matches over Riverview.

The Indians will host regionals at Venice High next Tuesday and Thursday.
