NEW YORK STATE (WSYR-TV) — A report from New York State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli found that New York State has one of the highest child poverty rates in the U.S. One in five children in NYS are living in poverty, according to the report, and New York’s child poverty rate ranked as the ninth worst state in the nation in 2022.
