This Thursday afternoon has been one to remember to say the least. A funnel cloud was spotted south of Charles City around 1:15 PM. Our newsroom has gotten plenty of photos of the funnel, but none to confirm if the tornado touched down. If you have photos or video of it on the ground, we will take it.
First Illinois man sentenced for forging checks from a North Iowa business
OSAGE, Minn. – The first sentence is handed down in the case of two Illinois men accused of forging thousands of dollars in checks from a Mitchell County business. Robert E. Higgins, 48 of Bellwood, IL, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit a non-forcible felony and forgery. He’s been ordered to spend three years on supervised probation and pay $8,467 in damages.

Betty D. (Marshall) Fibikar, 97, of Clarion, passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2024 at Colonial Manor of Elma. Memorial services for Betty Fibikar will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at the Clarion United Church of Christ Congregational, 121 3rd Avenue North West, in Clarion, with Stan Watne officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Clarion.
