Strand earns Big 10 honor, heads to NCAA tourney
Challis native Kelli Ann Strand was named to the second-team All-Big Ten women’s golf team April 30. Strand, a sophomore at the University of Nebraska, received the honor last year, too. She carries a school-record 71.17 stroke average through 29 rounds of golf. She has finished in the top five in two tournaments this year, in the top 10 in two other tournaments and in the top 25 in four other events. She was named Big Ten golfer of the week twice this year. College golf is a two-season sport, with fall and spring tournaments.

Challis man remains in Idaho Falls jail
Challis resident Michael Bauchman remains in the Bonneville County Jail in lieu of posting a combined $55,000 bond in two criminal cases. Bauchman pleaded not guilty to two counts of burglary and two counts of property damage at his April 9 arraignments in District Court. He was bound over to District Court after waiving his March 26 preliminary hearings in Magistrate Court.

Fish habitat improvement planned for part of Hayden Creek
Salmon habitat in a stretch of Hayden Creek is pegged for improvements now that The Nature Conservancy has closed on conservation easement on the Bar 20 Ranch north of Lemhi. Justin Petty, conservation manager with the Idaho office of The Nature Conservancy, said a half-mile of Hayden Creek, “right at the confluence with the Lemhi River,” is on the Bar 20 Ranch, and is the target for habitat restoration work. The ranch is owned by Spiro Daskalos.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) - Temperatures reached near 80 degrees yesterday. Expect slightly cooler and dry weather Sunday with highs staying well above normal. The weekend will finish off on a mostly dry note with temperatures getting a little cooler. Highs will peak in the low to mid 70s today, which is still quite comfortable. It remains a pleasant day to go outside and do some outdoor yardwork, but skies will be partly to mostly cloudy like Saturday. However, some clearing is possible later in the day.

Baseball Recap: Challis picks up 12th straight win at home
Challis came tearing into Saturday's contest with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.3 runs) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 9-6 win over the Firth Cougars. That's two games straight that Challis has won by exactly three runs.
