Evansville appointed new code enforcer
A quick special meeting was held by the Evansville Village Board on Monday night, with only two items on the agenda. The first was to approve a liquor license application. Village President Kenny Kempfer noted that a Class A liquor license had been forfeited by the former owners of the Waterstreet Bar and Grill, and the new owners had applied for the license.

New county joint justice center moves closer to completion
Construction of the Perry County Joint Justice Center is nearing completion as Zoellner Construction Co. and subcontractors feel confident they will meet their fall deadline. The Perry County Joint Justice Center (PCJJC) is moving ever closer to completion as crews with Zoellner Construction Co. and subcontractors work steadily to finish the project by its fall completion target.
Aldermen make plans to set tax rate, sell police station
At its July 16 meeting, the Perryville Board of Aldermen approved a lengthy list of consent agenda items, including choosing the date for a public hearing to set 2024 property tax rates and making plans to sell the current police station at 120 N. Jackson St., with the department soon moving to the new Perry County Joint Justice Center.
