Truck driver arrested months after allegedly shooting a West Virginia man in the face on an Ohio Interstate

A truck driver discovered in Michigan was arraigned In Belmont County Monday on suspicion of the I-470 trucker shooting.

Malcolm Williams, 31, was arraigned by video on the following charges: attempted murder with a firearm specification, two counts of felonious assault with firearm specifications and one count of discharging a weapon in a prohibited area also with a firearm specification.

Belmont County Common Pleas Court Judge Chris Berhalter set Williams’ bond at $250,000.

He told the judge he has no job at this time, and was assigned to public defender’s office.

Prosecutor Kevin Flanagan said Williams was discovered through GPS and ballistics evidence.

“Ultimately through an investigation from the State Highway Patrol, they had realized that it was in fact another drunk driver that shot a truck driver who was disabled on the side of the road. Through their investigation which involved GPS, ballistics, they were able to determine that it was in fact another truck driver, and ultimately led to the arrest of Mr. Williams.”

The shooting victim, Michael Brundage of Ellenboro, West Virginia in this case, was shot in the jaw and cheek, and has recovered after reconstructive surgery.

He was standing outside his truck when another trucker pulled over, approached him and shot him in the face.

The shooting happened Interstate I-470 in Pultney Township near mile marker three on the westbound side of travel.

Prosecutor Flanagan said it appears the attack was random, not personal.
