Explore Elkin’s monthly food truck event kicked off for the season on Friday at the Farmers Market Shelter downtown. Explore Elkin’s Food Truck Fridays take place the second Friday of each month from April through October.

Despite a chilly breeze, there were still folks out enjoying the snacks and live music last Friday evening. Each month the event features a variety of food trucks with fare like carnival-favorites, sweet treats, and more. The food trucks are on site during lunch hours and into the evening, with live music in the evening and wine and beer available for purchase.

This weekend, Explore Elkin will celebrate Earth Day with a slate of events planned throughout the community.

Earth to Elkin is being called a celebration of the town’s natural beauty and commitment to sustainability.

“This Earth Day event invites you to immerse yourself in hands-on activities that foster community engagement and environmental stewardship,” event organizers said. “From helping build community gardens to learning practical tips for leading a more sustainable lifestyle, there’s something for everyone to get involved in. Come together with friends, neighbors, and fellow nature enthusiasts to honor our planet and take meaningful steps towards a greener, more sustainable future for Elkin.”
