The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture, 866-366-3723, uses a risk-based inspection reporting process for restaurants and other food handlers. Angie’s Brookside Diner, 1360 Eisenhower Blvd. Harrisburg, Complaint, May 17. Fail. The Person in Charge did not demonstrate adequate knowledge of food safety in this food facility as evidenced by this non-compliant inspection. Food Employee observed donning single use gloves without a prior hand wash. Food employees observed in kitchen area, not wearing proper hair restraints, such as nets, hats, or beard covers. Observed food (fried potatoes, chopped vegetables?) in the three-door freezer unit area without a cover. Observed food (mixes?) in the three-door cooling unit area stored open with no covering. Observed a cell phone stored inside a stain steel bowl in the kitchen area. Observed soda gun and holster pink and brown slime on interiors in the bar area. Unwrapped and unprotected single use straws stored in the customer area. Soap was not available at the handwash sink in the bar area.
’90s-themed brewery opening new Lancaster County location
MOUNT JOY, Pa. (WHTM) — A locally owned ’90s-themed brewery and hoagie shop will be opening its newest location in Lancaster later this week. YAH Brew is a female-owned, 90’s-themed brewery that first made its Midstate debut back in 2022. Initially, the local brewery offered its unique beers at various pop-up shops, markets, and brew festivals around the area.
Harrisburg-based humane society offering $1 dogs and cats this weekend
HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) — The Humane Society of Harrisburg Area (HSHA) is bringing back their $1 dogs and cats event this weekend. According to HSHA, from Friday, May 31 to Sunday, June 2, they will be offering $1 adoption fees for all large adult dogs (40 lbs.+ and 1 year old+) and adult cats (6 months old+).
