ELIZABETHTON, Tenn. (WJHL) — The City of Elizabethton said Monday it issued “Peddler” Permits to ten individuals working as door-to-door salespeople for a new home internet service called Brightspeed.

The Elizabethton Police Department (EPD) assisted in notifying the public so the community could be assured of the salespeople’s legitimacy.

According to a Tip 411 alert from the EPD, “These individuals are selling a new home internet service from Brightspeed and will have their city permit and photo identification from their company.”

Elizabethton City Code prohibits door-to-door sales inside city limits without a permit, and they’re obtained through the police department. The EPD said no other individuals have an active permit for door-to-door sales aside from the ten Brightspeed workers.
