COF still searching for dollars
A meeting is planned today (Thursday) between city leaders and officials with the Circle of Friends Humane Society to discuss the shelter’s financial situation. COF staff members have been camping out and locking themselves in the adoption center on South Washington since November 17th trying to raise money to keep the doors open. CEO Lauralee Tupa says the cost of taking in animals is far outpacing available resources. Tupa says recent hoarding cases and abandoned animals have only made the situation worse.
