Fayetteville location of chicken wing joint abruptly closes
A Myrtle Beach-based chicken wing restaurant abruptly closed its Fayetteville location this week. Dirty Myrtle Wing Company made the announcement in a Feb. 10 post on its Facebook page. "Thank you to everyone who has supported us . As of today 2/10 we will no longer continue operating the Fayetteville location. Come visit us in Myrtle Beach..." the post reads. The owner of Dirty Myrtle, Troy Bennett, said Feb. 12 that the closure was prompted by issues he had with a franchisee. He ultimately decided to terminate the franchise agreement and close up shop in Fayetteville. Bennett was raised in Lumberton, and, in his late teens, moved to the Fayetteville area, where he lived for about 20 years before moving to Myrtle Beach, he previously told the Observer. He expressed disappointment this week at having to close the Bragg Boulevard location: "Fayetteville's home for me." Bennett opened the restaurant Sept. 10, 2024, at 2918 Bragg Blvd. in Fayetteville, the second one under the Dirty Myrtle moniker. Popular with locals in its original Myrtle Beach location , which opened in August 2023 and remains in operation, the chicken wing joint is known for its 36 flavors of house-made sauces and rubs.
