Bobby Pulido and City of Edinburg debut CoraFest

EDINBURG, Texas ( ValleyCentral ) — The City of Edinburg and Latin Grammy Winner Bobby Pulido partnered to celebrate music, community, and culture in the inaugural CoraFest.

The event occurred Saturday at the Promenade Park Amphitheater, where middle and high school students competed in the Conjunto competition.

The festival is meant to showcase local talent from South Texas and celebrate Norteño, Tejano, and Conjunto music that influenced our culture.

“I think the striking thing that I’ve seen, that I did not expect was the amount of women I’ve seen playing our music,” said Pulido.

He added that growing up people who played in Tejano, Norteño, and Conjunto were predominantly men. Pulido said it is amazing to see women play bass and drums in this music genre.
