Power Outage Closes Elementary School In Allentown
Jackson Early Childhood Center is also closed for the day, administrators said. No other Allentown schools are affected by the outage. According to the PPL outage map, the issue was caused by a tripped breaker or blown fuse. Crews have been dispatched to make repairs and PPL said they hope to restore power by 3:30 p.m.
Saucon Valley school board adopts new weapons policy
HELLERTOWN, Pa. – The Saucon Valley School District Board of Directors on Tuesday adopted changes to several policies, including its weapons policy. The policy, 218.1 Weapons, defines the term weapon as "any knife, cutting instrument, cutting tool, nunchaku, brass or metal knuckles… an instrument or implement capable of inflicting serious bodily injury."

Whitehall-Coplay School District approves final budget with tax hike
WHITEHALL TWP., Pa. – The Whitehall-Coplay School District Board of Directors adopted a final 2024-25 general fund budget Tuesday night at Whitehall High School. The vote was 5-4. The $95.7 million spending plan includes a 4.5% tax increase on property owners. The increase raises the current 20.7558 millage rate to 21.6898 mills. The district's 2023-24 budget featured a 2.59% tax increase, with the 2022-23 spending plan containing a 3% tax hike.
