'The greatest man': Late WWII veteran returns home, family and friends say goodbye
East Rochester, N.Y. (WHAM) — A local World War II veteran who died last month made his final journey home as his loved ones said goodbye. Robert Persichitti died May 31 at the age of 102 while traveling to Normandy to commemorate the 80th anniversary of D-Day. Family and friends gathered Monday afternoon to see Persichitti return from Germany and be laid to rest in East Rochester.
