Patrick Wisdom homers in the 10th, lifting Chicago Cubs to 5-4 win over Pittsburgh Pirates
PITTSBURGH (AP) — Cody Bellinger hit a go-ahead single before Patrick Wisdom added insurance with a home run in the 10th inning, lifting the Chicago Cubs to a 5-4 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Sunday for a series victory. Bellinger led off by dribbling a ball through the left side of the infield off Aroldis Chapman (0-3), scoring automatic runner Seiya Suzuki before getting caught in a rundown between first and second. Wisdom drove a two-out sinker, the seventh pitch of the at-bat, 412 feet into the center-field bushes. “It’s a testament to the resiliency and, I think, the consistency of our team,” Wisdom said. “But also in the lineup, putting together good at-bats, hitting the ball hard, not letting the hard-hit balls that are caught discourage us. ... Knowing guys are going to start scoring. It’s just a matter of time.” Chapman left with a cracked nail on his throwing hand after going down 3-0 to Nick Madrigal with two outs and runners on first and second. Kyle Nicolas entered, completing the walk of Madrigal before Mike Tauchman scored on a passed ball.
NFC Contender May Make Shocking $13 Million Blockbuster Trade
NFC Contender the Dallas Cowboys may make shocking $13 million blockbuster trade that would involve Pittsburgh Steeler running back, Najee Harris. According to a report, the Cowboys would be an ideal landing spot for one of the top running backs in the league today. The proposal would see Dallas sending a 2025 fourth-round draft pick in exchange for the Alabama product. Harris is likely entering his final season with the Steelers after declining his fifth-year option.
NFL Draft Pick Signings: 5/12/24
LB Payton Wilson (third round, NC State) The Steelers felt lucky to have Wilson fall to them in the draft, and they were right to. Initial draft rankings listed Wilson as the class’s fourth-best off-ball linebacker. The three ahead of him were the first three linebackers taken in the draft, but lower projected linebackers Ty’Ron Hoppper and Marist Liufau heard their names called before Wilson, as well. Not ones to look a gift horse in the mouth, Pittsburgh selected Wilson near the end of the third round.
Sunny and warmer for Monday
PITTSBURGH — Ample sunshine returns for Monday as highs will push into the upper 70s. Our next system is here Tuesday and Wednesday, prompting back-to-back Impact Days, to bring rain and perhaps a couple of storms. At this point, rain looks to be light, and storms look to be non-severe. It looks like two main timings for rain Tuesday: one in the morning for the commute and one in the evening into the overnight when the most widespread rain and storms look to happen. We dry back out Thursday before a system arrives next weekend. Timing is also a question here, but it does look like most of the weekend is dry for now.

The Cubs (24-17) went ahead on a Cody Bellinger RBI-single against Aroldis Chapman with the automatic runner standing on second. The Pirates caught Bellinger in between first and second for the first out, but Seiya Suzuki advanced 180 feet after starting the inning on second base. After Chapman (0-3) recorded the second out, Patrick Wisdom hit a solo home run to straightaway center field to give the Cubs an insurance run.
