Police Beat: St. Clair County
At about 3:30 p.m. May 6, a bomb threat was reported at the Home Depot in Fort Gratiot Township, according to officials from the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office. When the threat was found written on the wall in a bathroom stall, law enforcement was notified. Upon learning of the situation, deputies responded, calling for area bomb K-9s to respond, as well as Fort Gratiot Fire Department to stage in the area. Michigan State Police K-9 and a Port Huron Police Department K-9 responded to the store. They worked meticulously clearing the building. No bomb and nothing of concern was located. The store resumed normal business.
St. Clair County teen skateboarder dies after fall from moving vehicle
PORT HURON, Mich. – A 19-year-old man died Saturday, May 11, two days after being critically injured after falling while skateboarding in Port Huron. It happened Thursday, May 9, just before midnight on 24th Street, near Vine Street. Police said he was holding onto a vehicle while skateboarding when he fell and struck the pavement.
Kayak spotted adrift on Lake St. Clair, prompting U.S. Coast Guard helicopter search
An investigation is underway after a kayak was found adrift on Lake St. Clair Monday evening. Officials with the U.S. Coast Guard tell WWJ they sent up a helicopter after the kayak was spotted in the Anchor Bay area near Clay Township.
Teen dies after falling off skateboard while riding behind vehicle
PORT HURON, MI – A teen seriously injured over the weekend when he fell off his skateboard while riding behind a car has since died from his injuries, according to police. The man, 19, fell off the skateboard and hit the pavement, fracturing bones in his face and skull. He was found lying in the roadway at 11:49 p.m. Thursday, May 9, in the 2700 block of 24th Street.

Blue Water Area law enforcement to hold ceremony for fallen officers
Local law enforcement will be holding a ceremony Wednesday in honor of fallen law enforcement officers. The ceremony is being hosted by the U.S. Customs and Border Protections Office of Field Operations at the International Flag Plaza near Blue Water Bridge. Other participating law enforcement offices include the St. Clair County Sheriff's Office, Port Huron Police Department, Michigan State Police and U.S. Border Patrol Detroit Sector.
