The Lady Dinos faced rival team the Richfield Wildcats on Friday night, for the semifinals matchup in the state tournament. Madison Orth had a nice first quarter scoring and completing on two different and-one opportunities. Both teams were bringing intense defenses, for a low scoring 10 points for the Dinos and the Wildcats.

Chamberlain Breaks 37 Year High School Record
In 1987, Carbon Dino Swimmer Tina Gentry set the Women’s Swimming record in the 50 Yard Free with a time of 25.97. Her amazing achievement stayed secure for 37 years. During the 2023-24 State Swimming Championships at BYU, Alyssa Chamberlain was set to break that record. She achieved that goal with a time of 25.86, solidifying her time as the fastest recorded for a Carbon Dino in the event.

Lady Dinos Get the Win Over Juab *Photo Gallery*
The Lady Dinos drew a familiar foe in Thursday’s matchup with the Juab Wasps in the State Tournament. Carbon won both meetings with Juab during the regular season. The game started off at a bit of a slower pace with the Wasps bringing on a pesky defense, holding the Dinos to 10 points in the first quarter. Juab would have the lead going in to two, 11-10. The second quarter had a déjà vu feeling, with the Wasps only scoring four points and the Dinos scoring six, bringing the score at the half, 16-15.

The Carbon and Emery swim teams traveled to Brigham Young University over the weekend as 25 swimmers from Carbon and 21 from Emery participated in the State Tournament, where each individual event had 32 spots. On day one of the tournament, the swimmers would compete for a qualifying time to participate in the final events on Saturday.

Associate Vice President Doctor Miller heads 2024 school year at Eastern
Doug Miller (right) presents award to Jared Haddock. Dr. Miller is in his second semester as thw Associate Vice President of the USUE campus. As of August 2023, Dr. Doug Miller has been a great asset to Utah State University Eastern after former associate vice president, Greg Dart, had stepped down in June 2023. Miller’s role at Easter is Chief Campus Administrator and Associate Vice President at USU Eastern. “My role is to guide operations at Eastern, promote program development, and build partnerships in our region. I also support faculty development and engagement.”

The Carbon Dinos wrestling team traveled to the Sevier Valley Center over the weekend for the 3A State Championships. Brax Tapia started the tournament off well, getting two wins, one by fall and one by tech fall. After a couple of tough losses, he would battle hard against Delta’s Carter Anderson, getting him the fifth-place podium in the 132 weight-class.

During the February luncheon for the Carbon County Chamber of Commerce, the Women’s Business Center of Utah (WBC) was recognized as one of the business spotlights. Carbon’s season ends with loss to Richfield in 3A State Tournament
The Carbon Dinos suffered a season-ending 65-44 loss to the Richfield Wildcats in the second round of the 3A State Championship Tournament Saturday afternoon in Richfield. Entering the tournament as the No. 12 seed, the Dinos delivered a solid first half performance, trailing the No. 5 Wildcats 19-14 at the end of the first half. Richfield managed to overcome the powerful Carbon defensive performance by scoring 46 points over the final two quarters.
