EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ - She has had to keep it a secret - until now.
Maricel, the owner and head chef of East Brunswick's newest foodie hotspot Maricel's Kitchen will appear on the Season 6 premiere of the Food Network’s hit show, "Supermarket Stakeout," hosted by the renowned chef Alex Guarnaschelli.
Tune in on Wednesday, May 1 at 9:00 on the Food Network to see this "cheesy"episode. In Season 6, Episode 8 Cheese Pull Please , Alex Guarnaschelli starts four chefs off with a jolt when she asks them to create plates that go great with a cup of joe. Then, it's time to please judges Eddie Jackson and Damaris Phillips with a whole lot of cheese, and things get nutty as the finalists stake out shoppers to dish up something chock-full of nuts," says the Food Network website.
Not familiar with the show? Alex Guarnaschelli hosts as four chefs square off in a competitive pop-up kitchen outside a grocery store. Assigned a theme for each round, the chefs must size up shoppers as they exit the store and attempt to negotiate for their grocery bags. The judges send the chefs with the least successful dishes home, and the last chef standing walks away with a year's worth of groceries.
"Join me on this culinary adventure outside a grocery store, where chefs like myself face off in a pop-up kitchen battle. With only the groceries we can negotiate from shoppers, we’ll be crafting dishes themed for each round of this exhilarating competition. It’s a test of skill, persuasion, and creativity, all rolled into one," says Maricel.
Maricel's Kitchen set the table on gourmet Asian - Filipino, Japanese, Thai, Chinese, Indian - food in a beautiful spot at 111 Main Street in February 2024. Maricel's kitchen is really offering something new here in East Brunswick. Maricel provides catering, cooking lessons, corporate dining, and special events featuring delicate, delicious preparations of freshly prepared and gorgeously served meals. Local cooks are invited to take classes in learning to prepare everything from Pad Thai to empanadas to Vietnamese Pho to ramen and gyoza. (Click on the website page to get a free cookbook of Asian favorites.)
"Tune in to see if I can out-cook the competition and walk away with a year's worth of groceries! Your support means everything, and I can’t wait to bring some of my kitchen magic to your screens. Thank you for cheering me on," says East Brunswick's innovative chef.
