3 injured in Hwy. 86 wreck
Three women were injured in a single-vehicle wreck at 2 p.m. on Friday on Highway 86, one mile east of Eagle Rock. According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Dawna Headgepath, 67, of Eagle Rock, was driving a 2016 Buick Envision eastbound when her vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway and struck a sign and a guy wire for a pole.
Motorcycle rider dies after accident
A Blue Eye woman died after a motorcycle accident on Thursday, May 9, on Arkansas Highway 23 near Eureka Springs. According to a report written by Arkansas State Police Trooper Brandon Warren, Nicole M. Decker, 42, of Blue Eye was riding a 2006 Harley Davidson southbound on Arkansas 23 at 4:03 p.m. when she failed to negotiate a curve at Carroll County Road 266. The motorcycle traveled across County Road 266 and off the right side of the road. The center of the motorcycle struck a tree and the motorcycle came to rest.
Man from Kimberling City, Mo. killed in a crash
KIMBERLING CITY, Mo. (KY3) -The driver of a minivan was killed after he ran off James River Road and hit a tree Tuesday night. The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports Steven Shook, 59 of Kimberling City died in the crash. The patrol says Shook wasn’t wearing a seat belt.

Council makes quick work of light agenda
The Eureka Springs City Council meeting was quick and uneventful on Monday, May 13. The meeting lasted only 30 minutes, there were no public comments, and the handful of votes were unanimous, including one to cancel the council’s next meeting, scheduled for Monday, May 27, which is Memorial Day.

Hayward selected as new principal at high school
It didn’t take long for a new principal to be selected for Eureka Springs High School. The Eureka Springs School Board approved the recommendation of a hiring committee to select Dr. Jacob Hayward to replace outgoing principal David Gilmore, who has accepted the superintendent’s position in Green Forest.

Tigers claw way to history
Wednesday afternoon in Hurley, the Exeter baseball team experienced a, “Wow, that just happened,” moment. Down by 2 early and trailing 3-2 going into the bottom of the seventh in the Class 1, District 5 title bout, the Tigers (15-8) plated a pair of runs and brought the game to a final out. A mid-range fly ball tested right fielder Kronikel Lokot, but the senior snagged the catch to win Exeter its first-ever district championship.

Lawrence and Barry County Democrats will meet on May 23 at the Angus Branch Steakhouse, located at 114 Chapel Drive in Monett. The meeting will start at 7 p.m. Those wishing to eat should arrive by 5:305:45 p.m., with each responsible for their own meal expense. Guest speakers will include two area candidates for State Representative: Jeremy Dean from the 132nd in Springfield, and Rebecca Jensen, from the 160th District in Newton County. The group also hopes to have Yma Sautbine from the 158th District in Barry County. There will be reports from the group’s two scholarship award presentations, and discussion on fundraising events for Missi Hesketh in the U.S. 7th District Congressional race. Officials of FASCO, Industries, Inc. the City of Cassville, Chamber of Commerce and Industrial Development Corp., have jointly announced ground breaking ceremonies next Tuesday, May 28 for the new company manufacturing facility here. The announcements came shortly after election results were tabulated in Tuesday’s election. Representing FASCO will be R. W. Gysel, vice president, motor division; Peter Weis, vice president, Missouri motor division; Morris Castleberry of the Ozark plant, who will be the Cassville superintendent, and Mike Prueter, sales manager. The groundbreaking will begin at 5 p.m. at the plant site on the Sales Parn Road here. The public is invited to attend. A short program will be held at the site, with a music unit from the Cassville schools. Representing local interests will be Mayor Bill LeCompte, Bob Mitchell, C of C president, Bill Wiley, IDC chairman and Joe Ellis, IDC attorney. Representing the Missouri Division of Commerce and Industrial Development, which was most helpful in several stages of planning, will be Don Estell, industrial development specialist.
