How Scratch Farm Kitchen started with a Duson family farm, seasonal abundances and an idea
Scratch Farm Kitchen started out doing private dinners for about 40 people. Owner Jamie Harson and a former partner, Kelsey Leger, took Harson’s experience at her family farm in Duson and took Harson’s farm-to-table food to people’s plates. And it began with a simple farming question: What do you do with a large seasonal abundance such as three sacks of corn? Or 30 pounds of cucumbers?

Buddy Short with the Mike Bernard Acadiana Hibiscus Society, stopped by First at Four to share the details on their upcoming Hibiscus Show & Sale. The 24th annual Mike Bernard Acadiana hibiscus show and sale will be held Sunday May 19 in the gymnasium at Cathedral Carmel school here in Lafayette. Doors will be open to the public from 1-4. Admission is free. Several special features to consider: around 1500 plants and 60 varieties to select from, specially created hibiscus fertilizer for you, any military personnel, active or retired, can select a free one gallon hibiscus by simply showing their military ID, and a special drawing from a list of our guests to name a one of a kind hibiscus in the name of their choice.
