Our Town Columbus: December 4-9
COLUMBUS, Neb. (KOLN) - On Pure Nebraska and 10/11 News, we are putting the focus on Our Town Columbus!. Join us the week of December 4, as we explore this great Nebraska town. The Columbus Community Hospital is working to bring a new fieldhouse to the area. We will learn how it’s going to be a hub for wellness and athletics in the community. We are also going to learn about the recently completed Columbus Community Building downtown. We’ll get a tour of the building that is now home to the public library, city hall, and the Columbus Area Arts Council. We’ll learn about a store called Market 23 that is giving local makers a chance to sell their products all year long. In addition to that, we are going to learn about adult education opportunities at Central Community College. We’ll learn more about the new Harrah’s casino project coming to town, and we’ll learn how the new fire station and police station are both helping keep public safety a top priority.

Giant Christmas tree in place for Yuletide Fest
Newman Grove’s extra large Christmas tree was placed at the town’s main downtown intersection last week. Mike Kroeger helped stand up the tree on main street with the jib crane on his bucket truck. Ground crew included Dennis Hanzel, Chris Nelsen, Todd Flinn, Kevin Wiese, Hallie Nelsen and Chris Wiese. This tree will be lit by Santa Claus Friday evening during the Yuletide Fest.
