    8 displaced after heavy fire in Prince William County

    PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. ( DC News Now ) — Multiple people were displaced after a townhouse caught on fire Saturday night in Dumfries, Va.

    Crews with the Prince William County Department of Fire and Rescue responded to the 16300 block of Taconic Circle just before 8 p.m. There, they found heavy fire on the back side of a townhome spreading quickly to the attic and nearby houses.

    Units were able to control the fire rather quickly, but the townhouse suffered extensive damage.

    Week-long ‘Extended Heat Emergency’ issued for DC

    A total of four homes were damaged, three of which were deemed unsafe to occupy, according to Matt Smolsky, Assistant Chief Fire Marshal.

    Six adults and two children were displaced. No injuries, however, were reported.

    The Fire Marshal’s Office said the fire was caused by an accidental electrical fire.
