    Wolverine boys, girls second at Greyhound Invite

    DULUTH—The Rock Ridge boys and girls’ track and field teams both finished second on Friday at the Greyhound Invitational held at Duluth East.

    The Greyhounds won both the boys’ and girls’ events with 190.5 and 241.5 points respectively. The Rock Ridge boys were second with 165.5 while the Wolverine girls were second with 129 points.

    The Wolverine boys took home first place finishes in seven events on the day, with Andrew Wilson winning both the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.56 and the 200 meter dash with a time of 23.87.

    Luke Hecimovich took first in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 16.12 and Ethan Boe was tops in the shot put with a throw of 43 feet, 9.5 inches.

    In the relays, the 4x200 team of Wilson, Leo Johnson, Nolin Cope-Robinson and Max Williams won the event with a time of 1:32.90. Tristan Peterson, Casey Aune, Luca Pellini and Jackson Kendall took first in the 4x400 relay (3:39.82) and Aune, Tyler Wudinich, Pellini and Kendall won the 4x800 relay (8:40.16).

    Runner-up finishes for the Wolverine boys include Sawyer Williams in the pole vault (eight feet, six inches), the 4x100 relay team of Austin Schackman, Carson Mast, Zane Lokken and Jake Neari (47.10) and the 4x200 relay team of Chase Sandnas, Ryan Herberg, Mast and Lokken (1:37.80).

    Third place finishes include Hecimovich in the 300 meter hurdles (45.30), Jack Stella in the discus (104 feet, two inches) and Herberg in the high jump (five feet, six inches).

    On the girls side, Rock Ridge picked up three wins, starting with Liz Fultz in the 200 meter dash (27.62). Alex Gunderson won the discus with a throw of 89 feet, six inches. Kayden Maturi also took first in the triple jump, winning with a mark of 32 feet, six inches.

    Runner-up finishes for the girls include Maija Rantala in the 100 meter hurdles (18.17), Sophie Roark in the high jump (four feet, eight inches), Allison Fink in the long jump (15 feet, one-half inch) and the 4x200 meter relay team of Maturi, Addison Youngren, Fink and Fultz (1:54.40).

    Rock Ridge had two third place finishes for the girls including Shelbie Novak in the high jump (four feet, four inches) and Fink in the triple jump (31 feet).
