To-go cocktails are now permanently legal in Massachusetts
BOSTON - You can once again grab a cocktail to go in Massachusetts. Gov. Maura Healey has signed a supplemental bill that makes to-go cocktails a permanent fixture at restaurants in the state. Customers can buy up to 64 ounces of a mixed cocktail alongside a food purchase. The drinks must be kept in a sealed container and transported in the trunk of a car or a place "that is not considered the passenger area," legislation saysPandemic-era legislation becomes permanentCocktails to go were first legalized in Massachusetts in 2020, months after the COVID pandemic began, but only on a temporary basis. "During the pandemic, cocktails to-go were a critical source of revenue for many businesses, and now, the increased convenience and stability they offer is permanent."There are 27 states that have made to-go cocktails permanent, including Rhode Island, Connecticut and Maine.

To prepare for his funeral, the family of a Worcester teen killed in a shooting on Friday set up a GoFundMe to receive help. “On April 26, 2024, our beloved son, Sterling Baptiste Jr., tragically lost his life in a senseless act of violence,” wrote Sterling Baptiste Sr. in the GoFundMe description. “The grief we are feeling is indescribable and we are struggling to come to terms with this devastating loss.”

GOOD ONE Thursday will bring us a brief warm-up to the 60s with partly cloudy skies. Clouds will increase in the afternoon as a system track into northern New England and dives south and east. If it tracks right, eastern NH and MA could be clipped with rain showers. Check back as Thursday afternoon’s forecast is a bit iffy.

Worcester Vice Squad Apprehends Man Suspected of Illegal Firearm Possession
The Worcester Police Department's Vice Squad made an arrest on Monday evening after receiving a tip about a man with an unlicensed firearm. Officers conducted an investigation that culminated in the arrest of Jinazean Ball, 36, on Lincoln Street, Worcester. According to a press release by WPD, when confronted by police, Ball was found to be in possession of a silver semi-automatic firearm.

We’re looking at highs in the 70s for the day. A southwest breeze will keep the South Coast, Cape and Islands quite a bit cooler. We’ll see another sun and clouds mixture with the slight chance for a spot shower in eastern MA during the day and evening (peak chance late afternoon). Most of the rain will remain focused over central and northern New England as a disturbance tracks south and east across the region and eventually towards the ocean
