DRAPER, Utah ( ABC4 ) — Officials with the Draper City Police Department reported that an officer-involved accident left three people in the hospital on Saturday night.

According to a press release, the accident occurred around 10:30 p.m. on April 20, and the crash was described as “a serious traffic collision.”

Police said the officer was traveling eastbound on 12300 South and had activated his overhead lights while in pursuit. The officer was attempting to stop a separate vehicle for reckless driving when police said “his patrol car struck a northbound vehicle occupied by two teenagers.”

According to officials, everyone involved in the accident — the two teenagers and the officer — were taken to local hospitals with injuries that were deemed serious but non-life-threatening.

“We thank the citizens who stopped to aid those injured,” Draper police said in the press release. “We wish all involved a speedy and complete recovery.”

The officer was released from the hospital on Sunday morning, according to police.

The incident is under investigation by the Sandy Police Department.
