Doylestown Group to Hold Third Annual Saree Run This Weekend

DOYLESTOWN, PA—A local group will host the third annual Saree Run on Sunday to raise money to help women in Bucks County and India.

Desis of Doylestown and Arva Yoga will sponsor the event, which will be held at Lower Nike Park in Chalfont starting at 10 a.m. The event is free, but registration is required on the Desis of Doylestown website.

The event will feature a 1K and 3K run, walk or roll. Proceeds will go to A Woman’s Place in Doylestown and Shiksha Nidhi, an organization that helps educate girls in rural India.

In its first two years, the event raised a total of $25,000. The goal this year is to raise $15,000.

Desis of Doylestown was created in the fall of 2021 to foster a sense of community for "desis," but also to share their customs with the overall community. The word "desis" refers to people of Bangladeshi, Indian, Nepali or Sri Lankan descent.
