Pierre Part man arrested after allegedly assaulting, resisting multiple deputies
PIERRE PART — Assumption Parish deputies arrested a Pierre Part man after he allegedly assaulted multiple law enforcement officers. According to the Assumption Parish Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to Paul Street on Sunday night. When they arrived, deputies reportedly found Dylan Rivere, 37, who was acting hostile and uncooperative. Deputies then tried to arrest Rivere, who reportedly attacked them and tried to take one of the deputies' tasers.
Ignorant of the law, Gonzales Council defers decision on rezone application
Little rhyme and less reason goes into the City of Gonzales’ decisions related to annexing property, just over a century in existence the municipality has yet to figure it out. The Code of Ordinances bereft of guidance, little statutory criteria upon which to base its decisions, Gonzales elected officialdom continues to stumble around, inevitably deferring decisions that should be easy ones to make. Earlier this week a 4-1 council vote punted the application to rezone newly annexed property, ignoring clearly defined state law in the process.
