HERKIMER — The Town of Herkimer’s monthly board meeting took place following a public hearing on Monday, May 20, at the Herkimer High School Cafeteria, 801 W. German St. Upward of 50 residents attended the hearing in regards to a possible zoning change in the town, which could impact 41 residential and business parcels. Supervisor Dominic Frank said the issue arose as the town sought to reclassify several parcels from outdated zoning maps from the late 1990s, particularly commercial properties predominantly along Gros Boulevard.

Herkimer County woman sentenced to prison for murder
MOHAWK — A Herkimer County woman has been sentenced to 18 years to life in state prison for stabbing another woman to death. Taylor E. Goodhines, 22, of Mohawk, was sentenced Monday by Judge John H. Crandall on Tuesday, May 21, to 18 years to life in state prison on a charge of second-degree murder, court officials said. Goodhines pleaded guilty in March.
