The message of co-existence on the trail needs to be spread to every person who is out there in the big white open, traveling by motorized means or by dog team, fat bike, skies or snowshoes.
Lincoln Trigg, Sr.
Lincoln Trigg, Sr, known as LT, was born in Nome to Arthur and Eva Trigg. He was 84-years-old when he passed peacefully at Norton Sound Regional Hospital in Nome. LT was raised at Cape Nome, living a subsistence lifestyle hunting and gathering from the land, rivers, and sea. During the spring and summers, the family hunted oogruk, seals and birds, and fished for salmon, while living at Cape Nome.

Board of Game to consider proposed changes to regional moose hunt
The fall moose hunt around Nome has been ultra-competitive in recent years. Hunters in Game Management Unit 22C know that each September they have only a short window to find a bull. For the last five years, about 100 hunters have received permits to compete for a quota of just 16 to 25 moose. The hunt opens on the first of the month and typically gets closed by an emergency order just a day or two later. Many subsistence users are left without a chance at harvesting hundreds of pounds of good meat for their families in a place where the cost of food is high.

Norton Sound proposes to take over ambulance service
Norton Sound Health Corporation is in talks with the City of Nome to take over the city’s volunteer ambulance service and bring it under the health corporation’s umbrella. The City of Nome has provided the ambulance service staffed by volunteers and a limited number of paid EMT employees. After repeated complaints by the public that the ambulance either doesn’t show up or arrives late, the council has called for a work session on the topic and discussed last Monday. City Manager Glenn Steckman said that the expectations of the public are high. “Can the Volunteer Ambulance Department provide that?”

Briday Green of Nome and Eric Hoffman of Bethel are pleased to announce their wedding on November 4, 2023 at 4 p.m. at the Methodist Church in Nome, Alaska. Briday’s brother Stacey Green officiated the wedding. Briday’s uncle Bobby Bahnke and her son Daxton Raymon walked her down the aisle. Ringbearer was Perry Green. Mary Reader was the maid of honor and Colin McDonald was the best man.
