Rent stabilization to roll into Selma mobile parks
SELMA – Looking to provide relief for older residents living on fixed incomes, the city of Selma is moving forward with a mobile home park rent stabilization ordinance. Put together by city staff in response to direction from the Selma City Council, the ordinance aims to prevent steep increases in rent and promote open lines of communication between tenants and owners of Selma’s mobile home parks. Introduced by Deputy City Manager Jerome Keene at the June 3 council meeting, the ordinance received positive feedback from the council alongside requests for a few revisions.

The Source LGBT+ Center secures $600K grant
VISALIA – The Source LGBT+ Center in Visalia has announced that it will receive a $600,000 three-year grant from the California Department of Public Health (CDPH). The $600,000 award is part of the CDPH’s pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) and post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) initiation and retention initiative, which will award over $19 million in grants to 24 organizations across the state. The initiative is focused on increasing access to and utilization of PrEP and PEP among populations at highest risk for HIV. The grant funding period starts May 2024 and ends June 2027.
