Gregg County sheriff reports third suspect in murder of Longview businessman
GREGG COUNTY, Texas (KLTV) - The Gregg County sheriff named a third suspect allegedly involved in the murder of a prominent Longview businessman. At a press conference Monday afternoon, Gregg County Sheriff Maxey Cerliano announced that an arrest warrant has been issued for a man named Rene Garcia in connection with the 2016 murder of Ronnie Horaney. Little information was given about Garcia, other than that he is currently incarcerated in federal prison in Seagoville, TX on drug-related charges. It was also not made clear how Garcia is allegedly involved with Horaney’s murder.
Semi crashes, catches fire on I-20 near Longview
GREGG COUNTY, Texas — Officials are working to clear the scene after an 18-wheeler crashed and caught fire on I-20 near Longview. According to the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), the wreck occurred near mile marker 583, between SH 135 and FM 2207, just south of Liberty City. City council's gift to fire department, approval of several agenda items
, The evening of April 22, the Daingerfield city council consented to an updated agreement for the city water treatment and a development project for bathrooms at a local ballpark. Before the meeting began, the council presented the fire department with a wall hanging in appreciation of their dedication to the city. The agenda items approved are as follows: • The updated agreement with Northeast Texas Municipal Water District for treated water See council Page 3 • Resolution to authorize the Daingerfield Economic Development Corporation to complete the Irving Ballpark Facility Bathroom project • Request from parents of graduating class of 2024 to set off fireworks, as long as certified firework company handles the display One of the agenda items was the request from Daingerfield 259 LLC to assist in replacing an existing city sewer line across 201 Cotton Street. Councilmember Mike Carter expressed the concern that a quote should be presented for the request to be approved or rejected, and the issue is tabled until that quote can be presented to the council.
