WPBS Celebrates Juneteenth with Special Programming in June 2024
WATERTOWN, NY (June 11, 2024) – Each June we celebrate the end of slavery in the United States in 1865. Across the country, family and friends gather to celebrate and learn more about the history and experience of African Americans before and after slavery. Juneteenth is celebrated annually on June 19th and WPBS is marking the occasion with programs that tell the history of the holiday and show the joy of communities coming together in celebrations of independence.
