Marijuana incidents in schools skyrocketing

The Detroit Public Schools Community District has experienced an increase in drug-related incidents.

There were 289 incidents in 2019-21 and an increase to 1,735 incidents in 2021-23. Superintendent Nikolai Vitti is calling this a "distressing escalation" and is asking state leaders for help to decrease the rising use of marijuana in schools.
