DETROIT (WWJ) — Detroit police are renewing calls for tips in a hit-and-run crash on the city’s west side last fall that left a woman dead.

It happened around 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 1 in the area of Grand River and Patton — just south of McNichols and west of Evergreen.

The 29-year-old woman was crossing the street when someone driving a Ford Explorer hit her and fled the scene, according to Detroit police.

The woman, whose name was not released, was taken to the hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries. Authorities did not say whether the woman was using a crosswalk at the time she was hit.

Police officials on Monday re-shared photos of the suspect’s blue SUV — which had gray trim around the wheels — in hopes someone recognizes it.

Anyone who recognizes the suspect’s Explorer or knows something about the deadly hit-and-run is asked to call the Detroit Police Department’s Fatal Squad Unit at 313-596-2280 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.

As always, all Crime Stoppers tipsters will remain 100% anonymous. Tips can also be submitted anonymously at DetroitRewards.tv .
