Long-time McNeese broadcaster dies at 55
LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - Long-time McNeese broadcaster Richard Dow passed away Wednesday at the age of 55. McNeese Athletics Department issued a statement in his honor:. “McNeese Athletics would like to express our deepest condolences, thoughts and prayers to the Dow family. Richard was our broadcaster for many years, and even after his time with us, he continued to bleed Blue and Gold and cheered on the Cowboys and Cowgirls. He exemplified what a professional is in this business. He cared, not only about doing his job as a first-class broadcaster, but also cared about the student-athletes, coaches and staff. Most of all, Richard was a tremendous friend and human being. He loved his family more than anything and was always proud to tell stories about them. You’ll be greatly missed Richard. We know you’ll be ringing those cowbells and cheering us on.”

2024 Football Schedule Purchase Season Tickets Subscribe to our YouTube Channel McNeese Athletics has announced Poke Nation Fan Fest for August 17 in the concourse of the Legacy Center. The event will run from 10 a.m.-noon. Fans will be able to pick up their football season tickets and parking passes as well as meet and take pictures with the Cowboy football players. LAKE CHARLES—McNeese softball head coach James Landreneau has announced the additions of former Louisiana-Lafayette standout pitcher Christina (Hamilton) Mathews to his 2024-25 staff. Mathews, a native of Leesville, Louisiana played for the Ragin' Cajuns from 2011-15 where she appeared in 100 games, posted a career 55-11 record, a 1.99 ERA, 40 complete games, 10 shutouts, 389 strikeouts, and 447.2 innings pitched. While with the Ragin' Cajuns, Mathews was part of two Sun Belt Conference Championship teams (2011, 2014), two runners-up (2012, 2015), and one third place finish (2013).
