Peyton Manning names record of his that he doesn't want Denver Broncos QB Bo Nix to break

There's a lot of excitement surrounding the potential 12th overall 2024 NFL Draft selection Bo Nix as he enters the Denver Broncos locker room favored to win the starting job over Zach Wilson and Jarrett Stidham.

Former Broncos quarterback and NFL legend Peyton Manning recently fielded several questions on Nix, expressing optimism in the promising young signal-caller who completely rewrote his narrative after transferring from Auburn to Oregon.

Manning just hopes he doesn't break one of his records -- and it's not because it's a positive one. Manning holds the record for most interceptions in a rookie season.

In the first year he took the field in the NFL in 1998, Manning threw some 28 interceptions, which is still the most for a rookie to date. He'd obviously like his name off of that title, but he doesn't exactly wish it on anyone.

    That includes Bo Nix.

“I played as a rookie. That was not a fun year," Manning said. "It’s well-documented how many interceptions that I threw. If any one of these rookies want to break my record, I would be all for it. I don’t want Bo to break it, but I’d like to get that off my resume. You think with 17 games, they’d be able to do it. Twenty-eight shouldn’t be that hard."

Manning has some familiarity with Nix and has seen him up close and personal as one of his camp counselors at the Manning Passing Academy, an event that takes place annually in Thibodaux, Louisiana.

"(Bo Nix) and I stayed in touch," Manning said in a recent interview. "He actually won the National Football Foundation Scholar Athlete Award this year, which I won when I was in college. I was there at the banquet and got a picture with Bo. I remember just talking to Bo when he was thinking about transferring... I'm super happy for him to be here... I can tell how excited (head coach) Sean Payton is to have Bo here."

Considering the Broncos have what's widely seen as one of the worst quarterback rooms in the NFL, Nix has a chance to make a huge mark quickly if he can turn things around at the position sooner rather than later.
