"AD doesn't have to prove anything to anybody" - LeBron James speaks up on Anthony Davis' brilliance after monster Game 4 vs. Denver

Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James gave Anthony Davis his flowers for a superb performance in Game 4—he had 25 points, 23 rebounds, six assists, and one block in 43 minutes of action. AD has been incredible all series, averaging 30.5 points and 15.8 rebounds on 62.2% shooting from the field. "The Brow" leads the playoffs in points and rebounds.

"AD doesn't have to prove anything to anybody," James said after the Lakers snapped their 11-game losing streak against the Nuggets with a 119-108 victory on Saturday. "He's one of the best bigs we have in the game, one of the best bigs in the world. And he's showing that again through the first four games."

The Nuggets have no answer for AD

Davis' monster night makes him only the third Laker to record at least 25+ PTS, 20+ REB, 5+ AST on 60+ FG% in a postseason game, joining Shaquille O'Neal and Wilt Chamberlain. Coming off a postseason where he was criticized for his inconsistent play , the 31-year-old superstar has completely turned that narrative around. One can argue that he's even Nikola Jokic 's production in this series.

"AD does so much for our team…For him to get 23 (rebounds) in a game like this, it means a lot… And you could tell with his mentality, he was just like, 'I'll do it,'" Austin Reaves said after the game.

The biggest difference between Jokic and Davis in this series is that the former has gotten a ton of help from his teammates. Last night's contest was the first time in the series that four Lakers starters, specifically James, D'Angelo Russell, and Austin Reaves, racked up 20 points. L.A. also won the rebounding battle for the first time in four games and dominated the points in the paint battle 72-52.

    Davis remains confident

Despite the Nuggets being up 3-1, the Lakers have led for 129 minutes throughout four games compared to the Nuggets' 42. L.A. has been able to keep up with Denver, but somehow, it always seems to crumble in the second half. They've outscored the Nuggets in 10 out of 12 quarters and have led by double digits against them in all three contests.

In Game 4, the Lakers finally managed to hold the lead from start to finish and, for once, had an answer for Denver's second-half run. The fact that they know they can hang with this team for as long as they play consistent basketball throughout the game is what continues to give Davis and his team hope.

"We have a lot of confidence in our team," the Lakers superstar said. "We've had the lead a lot this series. And it's just been our second half where we haven't, actually our third quarters, where we haven't been able to execute at scoring the basketball. So our confidence was never lost at any point in the game."

LeBron, AD, and Co. will need that confidence heading back to Denver, where they look to extend the series once again. And even though history is not on their side—no team has ever overcome a 3-0 deficit—the Lakers will look to build on the momentum from yesterday's win and take it one game at a time.
