Brandon Pittman, a 17-year-old student at Louisville High School, was seriously injured in a single-vehicle car crash on Tuesday, June 4. The accident occurred when Pittman’s Honda Civic veered off the right side of the road off of 153 in Georgetown around 9 a.m., struck a culvert before going airborne. Despite wearing a seatbelt, Pittman suffered severe head injuries after an object from the backseat flew forward and struck him upon landing.
Tuscarawas County projects in line to receive money from $700 million state fund
TUSCARAWAS COUNTY ‒ The Ohio Senate will be considering a bill that would fund projects throughout the Buckeye State, including Tuscarawas County. Senate Bill 288 would allocate millions of dollars from the One-Time Strategic Community Investment Fund (OTSCIF). The purpose of the OTSCIF is to fund projects that will benefit communities across all of Ohio. This additional funding allowed communities to apply for assistance with projects that may not qualify as part of the state’s traditional Capital Budget.

Canton man sentenced to prison for providing fentanyl to Massillon man who died
CANTON – A Canton man who pleaded guilty to providing a fatal dose of fentanyl to a Massillon man in 2023 has been sentenced to six to nine years in state prison. Marcel J. Thomas, 33, pleaded guilty to felony counts of involuntary manslaughter, two counts of trafficking in fentanyl-related compounds, possession of fentanyl-related compounds, trafficking in cocaine, possession of cocaine and a misdemeanor possession of drugs.
