Stark County Hunger Task Force keeps kids connected with backpack food program over the summer
With the end of the school year at the Canton City School District, non-profit organizations such as Stark County Hunger Task Force are stepping up to ensure families who count on food assistance for them and their kids can still get the support they need. The task force provides backpacks filled with food for children whose family’s income is below the poverty line. For the summer it's shifting distribution from schools to other community locations for the summer, according to Executive Director Stephanie Sweany.

PHOTOS: Car crashes through downtown Canton building after multi-car accident
A multi-car accident at the intersection of Cleveland Ave NW and Tuscarawas St W resulted in the intersection being closed down for part of Thursday morning. A car involved in the crash went through a building downtown. The crash happened just before 8 a.m. and involved three vehicles, witness say.
OSHP: 11-year-old boy who took grandparent’s car hurt in rollover crash
An 11-year-old Navarre boy was transported to a hospital after he allegedly took his grandparent's car then crashed it, causing the car to flip multiple times, according to state troopers.

PLAIN TWP. – Dave’s Hot Chicken will open this summer at 5440 Whipple Ave., the location that formerly housed Moe’s Southwest Grill. Its first location was in Hollywood in 2017 as a parking lot sensation and quickly became a fast-casual cult hit. The restaurant specializes in chicken tenders and sliders, with seven spice levels ranging from none to reaper. The menu also includes top loaded shakes, Cauli Dave’s Not Chicken, cheese fries, kale slaw, and a cup of pickles.

Rainbow Connection awards more than $50,000 to individuals and organizations
NEW PHILADELPHIA − The Tuscarawas Society for Children & Adults, Inc., better known as the Rainbow Connection, awarded local individuals and organizations $51,153. Assistance includes: $6,853 in medical bills, $3,800 in mobility scooters, and $4,500 in hearing aid expenses to Tuscarawas County residents as well as $36,000 in handicap playground equipment to Starlight School.
