- The following incidents were reported in the city of Independence. Monday, April 15 - An officer was on routine patrol and observed a vehicle with a flat tire on the 2500 block of County Road 92. The officer stopped and spoke to the driver who advised roadside service stated they wouldn’t be out for four hours. The officer transported the driver to his work and then figured out what to do with his vehicle. Tuesday, April 16 - An officer was on routine patrol in the area and observed a damaged vehicle at the intersection of County Road 92 and Highway 12. The officer spoke to the driver, and it was determined the car struck and went over the center island roundabout. Ultimately, the driver was arrested for a DWI. Pending results and charging.

DELANO – Delano softball coach Megan Vargo has a picture in her head of what her team could look like as the season progresses. Early on this year, the Tigers have shown stretches of that picture as they continued their strong start to the season with a 5-2 win over Hutchinson Tuesday for their fourth win of the season.
Fire guts Mound home undergoing renovation
MOUND, Minn. — A home in Mound is likely to be a total loss after fire tore through the structure early Wednesday. Mound Fire Chief Greg Pederson said his crews were dispatched to the 4700 block of Bedford Rd. shortly before 4:30 a.m. but believes the fire was raging well before that. The home, which was undergoing renovations, is described by the chief as "cluttered." Pederson said it's likely the fire started in the garage of the home, which is filled with tools.

PREP BOYS GOLF: Delano keeps on rolling during busy stretch
BECKER – After a strong start to the season in conference play, the Delano boys golf team returned to action in another 18-hole meet competing at the Bulldog Invite at Pebble Creek Golf Course April 18. Going up against 14 other teams, Delano finished in a tie for seventh place with a team score of 345. Waconia claimed the team title posting a team score of 314 while Detroit Lakes took second and St. Cloud Cathedral finished third.

Delano Municipal Utilities approves water conservation measures
The Delano Power, Light, and Utilities Commission voted Tuesday evening to adopt water restrictions that could go into effect as soon as May 1. Commissioners took the action April 23 during a joint meeting with the Delano City Council. The meeting was held at the Delano Municipal Utilities building along McKinley Parkway.
