Cooling On The Coast
Some areas will warm up and some will cool down in the coming days. That is the beauty of our microclimates!. High pressure continues to strengthen to our west with temperatures aloft warming through around Sunday before starting to cool back down. Our mountains and inland areas (especially farther from the coast) will continue to warm day by day. However, the significant warming across the state will set up a low level pressure gradient, pulling the cool, dense ocean air ashore. The strong ridge overhead will keep this layer of air fairly shallow, but it will rush into the valleys every afternoon and may eventually bring some fog/low clouds. As the ridge weakens out of the weekend, the layer will deep a bit, making clouds more likely, a la “May Gray.” It looks like the ridge (or another) will rebuild or at least reorganize for another shot next week. All the while expect seasonable temperatures on the coast but above normal reading inland.
Beautiful Weekend Weather
Lots of sunshine and warm temps finish out the weekend. Another beautiful day across the Central Coast which will continue for Mom on her day Sunday! Low clouds and fog will develop once again at night and during early morning hours before abundant sunshine once again. Inland areas will reach 80s and maybe low 90s in a couple spots with a low heat risk lasting through next week as well. Our weather pattern will stay quiet, bit cooler early next week and remaining dry, then warming back up by mid week.

As graduation season commences, a series of smaller ceremonies recognizes communities prior to the big day.
Many years ago, I nervously walked across the stage in cap and gown inside the stadium at San Diego State University to receive my diploma. It was an exciting moment, one that I know thousands of students at Monterey Peninsula College, Hartnell College and CSU Monterey Bay are anticipating ahead of this weekend’s ceremonies on Friday and Saturday.
