Deerfield girls track wins Cambridge Invite; boys fourth as team wins seven events

The Deerfield girls track and field team won five events to take first place at the Cambridge Invitational on Thursday, April 11 at Cambridge High School.

Sophomore Emme Drobac led a 1-2 finish for Deerfield in the 3200-meter run, taking first at 11 minutes and 22.79 seconds. Junior McKenna Michel (12:26.29) placed second in the 3200.

Sophomore Rylee Berryman won the high jump with a mark of four feet and 10 inches. Berryman also won the triple jump at 33 feet and 11 inches.

Also in the triple jump, senior Kylee Lonigro (28-4) and junior Maddie Kimmel (28-2) finished fifth and sixth.

The 4x200 relay team took first at 1:54.16. The 4x400 relay team also finished in first place at 4:31.15.

Junior Piper Ryan took second in the 1600-meter run at 5:48.01 and senior Ella Arenz (5:50.69) scored third. The 4x100 relay team ran third at 58.98 seconds.

Sophomore Madelyn Ayres threw fourth in the discus event at 89 feet and two inches. Ayres also placed seventh in the shot put with a mark of 27 feet and 6.25 inches.

In the 100-meter hurdles, junior Brianna Ament (17.90) finished fifth. Ament (51.48) also finished fifth in the 300-meter hurdles.

Freshman Violet Sweger (14.22) ran eighth in the 100-meter dash. Lonigro (1:12.40) took eighth in the 400-meter dash. Freshman Jayna Curtis (14-1.50) scored eighth in the long jump.

The girls team scored 103 points. The boys team finished fourth with 81 points, winning two events.

Senior Cody Curtis won the 800-meter run in 2:01.46. Freshman Brady Fleming (2:23.30) also ran the 800, taking 10th.

Senior Eli Key took first in the 110-meter hurdles at 15.92 seconds. Key (42.20) finished third in the 300-meter hurdles.

The boys 4x100 relay team scored second at 46.65, while Albany took first place at 46.65. The 4x200 relay team finished second at 1:36.88, while Edgerton won the event at 1:36.12.

Junior Wyatt Brattlie scored second in the triple jump at 36 feet and nine inches. Sophomore Sam Haines (24.11) took third in the 200-meter dash.

In the 400-meter dash, sophomore Brayden Hein-Berdsley (55.90) ran third and freshman Noah Pries (59.33) took 10th.

Senior Parker Howard finished fourth in the pole vault at 10 feet and six inches. Junior Evan Grosvold (10-6) scored sixth in the pole vault as well.

Senior Robert Thompson (11:51.50) scored fifth in the 3200 meter. The 4x800 relay team ran sixth at 9:57.32.

Howard (12.19) ran seventh in the 100-meter dash. The 4x400 relay team took seventh at 3:58.85.

In the discus throw, junior Bryce Jones (107-10) and junior Dayne Schwoerer (105-5) finished ninth and 10th. Junior Zack Hansen placed 10th in the long jump at 17 feet and 8.75 inches.

Edgerton won the boys event with 128 points.
